Former President Donald Trump, recently found guilty on 34 counts of falsifying business records, could face significant travel restrictions if sentenced to probation.

The charges stem from a $130,000 payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels, intended to silence her about an alleged affair before the 2016 election.

The conviction has led to various speculations regarding Trump's potential sentencing. While options such as prison time, house arrest, and fines are on the table, legal experts widely agree that probation is the most likely outcome.

Probation would notably affect Trump's ability to travel, both domestically and internationally.

As reported by Newsweek, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg emphasized that the hush money payment was aimed at preventing Daniels from going public about the affair.

Trump, however, maintains his innocence, dismissing the case as politically motivated, and his legal team is preparing to appeal the verdict.

Judge Juan Merchan, who presided over the trial, has set the sentencing date for July 11. According to Matthew Mangino, a former district attorney in Pennsylvania, the court could impose supervised probation, restricting Trump's international travel. Mangino explained, "the court could limit or prohibit international travel."

Contrary to this view, Lance Fletcher, a Manhattan criminal defense attorney, expressed skepticism about the likelihood of probation. "I would be shocked if they gave him probation because of all the ways it could invite a legal showdown, including the fact that he'd have to ask permission to travel outside of New York," Fletcher told HuffPost. He highlighted the complexities that would arise if Trump had to request permission to leave New York.

Following his conviction, Trump released a statement, condemning the trial as "rigged" and maintaining his innocence. "I'm a very innocent man, and it's OK," Trump said.

The implications of Trump's sentencing extend beyond legal ramifications; they also have significant political consequences. If probation and travel restrictions are imposed, it could curtail Trump's political activities and influence.
